Epic Rail Jam Goes Off in Portland Heat

Portland, OR (July 2, 2009) – On the hottest day of the year thus far, Epic Snow in northwest Portland threw down a most…um…epic rail jam under the summer sun.

It started when a loaded tour bus harnessing the likes of guest DJ Mark Frank Montoya rolled into PDX, bringing with it some serious summer shred stoke. About 30 riders showed and dropped the $5 entry fee to hit side by side rails in the parking lot while free keg beer from (edit: Pyramid) fueled the fire and probably upped the ante. Case in point: “I’m pretty hammered dude,” a rider blathered as he waited in line to climb up and face the rail again. I don’t think the keg raised the bar on jib skills, but definitely encouraged rail to rail transfer attempts and the inevitable carnage-filled aftermath.

All in all, any snow is good snow, especially in 90 degree July heat in downtown Portland. Thanks to Epic Snow and all the sponsors for putting on a good time in the middle of the city—a perfect warm up for the Fourth of July weekend.
