With heavy avalanche danger in the alpine and several feet of new snow, a recent weekend spelled retreat into the more protected reaches in and around Mt Baker. It also inspired David Ghan to train for an upcoming follow-up to his Mt St Elias journey featured in frequency TSJ #8.2—a sailing trip to another northern mountain range—by digging out his pull-sled and taking the hibachi into a small alpine bowl for a booter, beers, and tube-steak session.
