Whistler Opening Early on Saturday, November 17

Whistler Mountain will be opening in three days from now on November 17th, five days ahead of schedule, due to cooler temperatures, natural snowfall and remarkable snowmaking (their snowmaking team managed to convert about 70 million gallons of water to snow). At about 5,400 feet, the resort is reporting a base of close to ten inches. Whistler Blackcomb promises gifts for the first 1500 guests on their two gondolas, as well as numerous opening day festivities. Six runs will be open, giving early-bird shredders access to 1800 vertical feet of terrain. Blackcomb Mountain still plans to open on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 22.
