Arc’teryx Deep Winter Photo Challenge in Whistler Jan. 19

Every year in January, Whistler Blackcomb is hit by a series of storms that provide a nonstop series of powder days. The annual Arc’teryx Deep Winter Photo Challenge, presented by Gore-Tex®, presents the work of six photographers as they attempt to capture athletes in the deep BC pow. Reuben Krabbe, Adam Clark, Russell Dalby, Mike Helfrich and Nic Alegre will have 72 hours to get their shots; the compilations of their best photos will be presented to a live audience and a panel of judges, who will decide who to crown the “King of Storms”, and award him a prize of $9,000.

The event will take place in the Fairmount Chateau Whistler on January 19th. Doors open at 7pm with the slideshow starting at 8pm. Tickets for the event run $20, and are available at any Whistler Blackcomb Guest Relations location, or by calling 1-800-766-0449. If you can’t make the event, vote for the people’s choice award. Each photographer will also have an opportunity to win by throwing their best three shots up online, where everyone can vote for their favorite; the winning photographer takes home a voucher for a trip with Whistler Heli-Skiing.
