Patrick Armbruster on Absinthe Films

Patrick Armbruster met Justin Hostynek at a film premiere in 1999, and the two quickly began discussing the prospect of creating a European snowboard film. In that moment, Absinthe Films was born. In an interview with Bitchslap magazine, Armbruster recounts the creation of Absinthe, the transition away from 16mm film, and how the company has stood the test of time since the original release of Tribal in 2000. Over time, Absinthe has marked themselves as an industry standard, filming with riders like Nicolas Muller, Travis Rice, DCP, Gigi Ruf, Romain deMarchi, JP Solberg and MFM—just to name a few—to release a new film every year for the past twelve years.
