Get Ready: Tailgate Alaska 2014

Start getting your gear together! Tailgate Alaska has announced that they will be returning in March 28 to April 6, 2014. Tailgate Alaska is the world’s largest backcountry winter sports festival. Snowboarders and skiers alike gather in the Chugach Mountain Range to explore what the backcountry is all about.

Tailgate Alaska will return to Thompson Pass for hopefully a record breaking year. The festival this Spring 2013 was the largest year yet, and Tailgate Alaska is taking steps to make this year even bigger, and safer, than before. Free snow-science classes have been offered at the mountain for the past four seasons to help prepare boarders for the treacherous backcountry slopes. This year those snow-science classes will be broadcast online in a 12-part webcast series premiering October 1, 2013. Many of these videos will emphasize on avalanche education and rescue techniques. Other videos will help prepare for the overall Tailgate Alaska experience, including riding, games, and basecamp personalities.

Start getting ready, and keep an eye out for those videos come Fall. For more information, check out the official website here.
