Burton Presents: Variable Conditions

Japan is known for its abundance of powder days, but no place is perfect. Mikkel Bang and Christian Haller recently took a trip there expecting nothing but deep snow, and discovered upon arrival that Mother Nature had different plans for them. In the true spirit of snowboarding, the two made the most of everything the trip threw at them. This is “Burton Presents: Variable Conditions.”

A word from Burton about “Burton Presents: Variable Conditions”:

The original name of this Burton Presents edit was going to be called Deep Trouble. As in, wow, this powder is deeeep. Well, turns out the weather had other plans than following ours and instead of just pow, we rode through it all: rain, wind, slush, sun, crust, you name it. Finally, on one of our last days, we got the japow we’d been dreaming of on Hokkaido.
