Last April, Mt. Baker local Corey Nolan set off with a small crew on a kayak-based splitboard trip to Kenai Fjords National Park in Alaska. Splitboarder Maya Hunger said that aside from their main objective of riding new lines, a sense of fulfillment came just from exploring the remote area, which she understands won’t always look the way it did last spring. “It’s easy to forget when we’re out there, these glaciers here are receding really fast,” she says. “They won’t be there forever.”
