There’s a dreamy, spiritual aspect to this short film, one that is likely to positively influence everyone who snowboards. In “Mt. Familia,” Tsutomu Endo examines his place in the mountains where he was born, where he has shared backcountry experiences with legendary riders and with friends for the last 25 years. He reflects on how he has achieved so much as a photographer, building his career “from the bottom and climbing up, step by step.” Gratitude suffuses Tsutomo’s recollections and his recognition of where he stands today as a seasoned, well-traveled snowboard photographer. He clearly has found a place of inner peace by looking inward, looking home.
