Mochiyori

Snowboy Productions at Kawaba Resort, Japan

This season, Snowboy Productions has dealt with seemingly every kind of weather imaginable in their pursuit to build fun setups for snowboarders across the world. Head Honcho Krush Kulesza and his crew of digging misfits battled through ice and below-zero temps at The Loon Project in New Hampshire in January. In early February, Snowboy hosted the rainiest event in their company’s 25-year history, The Orange Grove at Kingvale, CA, an event that most of us had originally expected to be chock-full sunshine and slush.

Fortunately, by late-February, when Krush and his crew showed up in Japan, they lucked out with powder aplenty. Snowboy returned to the Land of the Rising Sun for the first time in years to host a freestyle-focused event, Mochiyori, at Kawaba Resort. Mochiyori translates in English to potluck. Judging by the footage and photos that came out of Mochiyori it seems it’s a fitting name, as it looks like every rider in attendance ate and left with figuratively full bellies. They feasted on powder and rails under sunny skies with friends new and old, gathered together with unique yet likeminded individuals for a one-of-a-kind event in one of snowboarding’s meccas. Not a bad way to wrap up the month.
