From Weddings to Cheeseburgers

Oskar EnanderOskar Enander is a photographer based out of Engelberg, Switzerland, where he lives with his family. He grew up in Gothenburg on the west coast of Sweden and his passion for the mountains brought him to Switzerland in 2002. That was when he started working behind the lens. Winter imagery is his main focus, but he still loves the mountains in the summer, so he also shoots biking, hiking and trail running. However, he says his real passion these days is golf—he is completely obsessed with it. Over the past two decades, Oskar has worked with many magazines worldwide as well as most of the main brands in the outdoor industry. John HookJohn Hook says he’s “probably the worst snowboarder contributing to this journal.” A 45-year-old self-proclaimed “Funtographer,” he lives on Oahu, HI, “surrounded by tourists and kooks,” and says he wouldn’t change it for anything.  John tries to go on a surf trip at least once per year, usually to a warm destination like Bali, where he photographed Forrest Shearer by chance. Although John’s Instagram (@john_hook) is full of surf photos and beautiful waves, his actual job is as a commercial photographer in the Hawaiian Islands, taking pictures of everything from weddings to cheeseburgers. He will be able to exit a chairlift without falling sometime in the near future.

Shaina JOelOriginally from Southern California, Shaina Joel started riding her local resorts of Big Bear and Mountain High at 15 years old. Her initial career in graphic design and marketing led to her introduction with a professional camera. Shortly thereafter she made the leap to combine her two main passions, snowboarding and photography, and pursue it full-time. She has spent the last three seasons living on the road and taking every opportunity to expand her portfolio and network. Shaina has shot for several snowsports brands and contests, but most commonly can be found in a terrain park photographing her friends for fun. Shaina’s work can be seen on Instagram @shaina_joel and online at www.shainajoel.com.

Duncan SadavaBorn and raised in Edmonton, AB, Duncan Sadava learned to snowboard on 100 vertical feet of manmade snow in double-digit sub-zero temperatures and quickly became obsessed. The imagery in magazines and videos of the late ’90s and early 2000s convinced him to relocate to Whistler, BC, where he still resides today. At some point along the way he realized that being behind the camera was as rewarding and exciting as being in front of it and pivoted to find a role in snowboard media. Duncan currently spends most of his winters shooting photos for Powder Mountain Catskiing & Heliskiing and working with local crews in the Whistler backcountry. Find him on Instagram @duncansadava.
