Homesick 2024

Driving northeast from New York’s crusty capital city of Albany to the syrupy sweet Green Mountain State always brings me back. Things have certainly changed over the years—there’s less snow these days, for one, and the US Open has long since departed from Stratton, signifying an end to its snowboard culture heyday. Some would say that things at Stratton haven’t really seemed the same ever since. But this weekend, we’re carving into nostalgia.

Better yet, we’re collectively taking part in a new wave of east coast glory days. Today, I’m far from alone in making my way to Stratton. Just like old times, this weekend there are thousands of snowboarders from all around the world amassing in the Green Mountains to ride side-by-side, or in many cases, head-to-head with each other. But it’s not another US Open. Rather, the gang’s getting together for Homesick, a three-day, multifaceted event hosted by Gary Land’s East Street Archives.
