Alex Yoder

A self-described hopeless romantic on a world tour, Alex Yoder first stepped out of a heli in the Chugach at the age of 18 via a dishwashing job at Alaska Rendezvous Lodge. Now 23, the young freerider has chased that simple feeling to achieve wisdom and style well beyond his years.

A quiet 20-something male sits hunched over the wheel of the Subaru. Bundled in a down parka, hat and thick gloves he squints through frost on the inside of the windshield. He’s just spent a sub-zero night sleeping on a lumpy board bag in back of the ’93 Loyale. Conversation is minimal, as if his lips are frozen stiff. He pilots the rig north to a destination now as familiar to him as the road: Alaska. It is a place full of promise for a young freerider. He’ll get there by any means necessary. He’ll save every possible dollar along the way in order to ride more lines when he gets there. The man behind the wheel is Alex Yoder. And he is a son of snowboarding…
