Egan Wint is equal parts sugar, spice and everything nice. Can’t forget that dash of Chemical X, too. All those ingredients are on full display as she seamlessly transitions from salty to sweet during a mid-street-session portrait shoot in Japan. Photos: Shaina Joel

Egan Wint’s Mutual Aid

Egan Wint is punk, and I mean that in the most endearing way possible. She isn’t a punk in the contrived sense of the word, one that comes with negative connotations derived by the very same squares who would, or better yet, could never understand what it truly means to be punk. Like any fool, they’re able to recognize the subculture’s more obvious aspects of non-conformity, but the boxed scope of a square’s worldview doesn’t allow them to understand punk’s realest, rawest roots. That intangible frequency is key: Being true to yourself and standing up for what’s right despite resistance from power and the discomfort that comes with it. And let’s be real, the world could use a bit more punk these days.

Punk is nuanced in its spectrum of aggressively loving juxtapositions, and it is abundantly clear that Egan embodies such swagger. The 23-year-old out of Denver, CO, recently riffed her way onto snowboarding’s mainstage through the Salt Lake City, UT, scene, inspiring the hearts and minds of many who have witnessed her attack handrails with streaks of green hair flying. Egan, aka “Egg,” has proven herself a reckonable 4-foot-11-inch force in the streets and beyond, consistently turning heads since her breakout moment at the Dustbox’s “Be Somebody” event in 2020. That’s where she faced a massive joint just prior to the competition, before proceeding to smoke her competition, too, which notably included some of the most talented women in the game.
