Hana Beaman

Thirteen years into her career as a snowboarder, Hana Beaman has grown from a contest rider to the best backcountry freestyler in female snowboarding. The Big Bear, CA native talks the early days of Grenade in the Mammoth Mansion, fear of missing out, and being comfortably scared.

A few months back I invited Hana Beaman to the Volcom Pipeline house on O’ahu, HI for a week of September surf. She declined because she would be returning from South America the day before we were set to leave and had a wedding to attend that night. She thought it would be too hectic.

Hours into the trip and mid-edit of this interview the texts started coming in: “How many boards are there?” “What are the waves doing?” After waking up jetlagged and hung over from the wedding, Hana booked a flight for Hawaii leaving just four hours later.

Impulsive and afraid of missing out, Hana has a wild inability to sit still…
