Every Island Has a Name

Draw Your Own Conclusions

It’s beautiful to see how a rough idea can lead to something unique when you have the right crew, the freedom to create and a lack of expectations. I love to get away from the “classic” trick-based snowboard film formula, like the film CHROMA I made in 2021 with filmmakers Alexander Tank and Willem Jones, and photographer Silvano Zeiter. There was something in the photos that we wanted to build upon—an expression of movement and art and the creative process, where everything changes as you go.

This past winter, we made Every Island Has a Name. The title is supposed to leave room for interpretation—I love art where there is room for the viewer to draw their own conclusions. But the “island” idea comes from being in a place where you feel safe and free to fully express yourself.
