Every December Mt.Bachelor hosts the ultimate season kick-off party called the Dirksen Derby, which is not only a race, but essentially a snowboarding festival. Friends come from near and far to enjoy Bachelor’s super playful terrain and this year mother nature really outdid herself with non-stop snowfall all weekend making it hard to choose between racing the course or riding some fresh pow. The Derby is just an all around amazing time to spend playing in the mountains with your friends enjoying not just the act of snowboarding itself, but the people and culture of snowboarding as well. Bachelor local Austin Smith knows this all too well and he took this opportunity to show fellow Smith Optics team rider Louif Paradis around his home mountain on one of the most epic weekends of snowboarding.
