The words “innovative,” “creative,” and any other synonymous adjectives one can think of, get thrown around a lot in snowboard culture. But there are few who actually exhibit any sort of technical inventiveness at the same level as the Yawgoons (featured in issue 12.3 of frequency TSJ) of Rhode Island. Utilizing a mountain with only 310 feet of elevation, the Yawgoons have repeatedly blown the shred community away with their ability to find features where others would see nothing. To keep things fresh it’s important to put to use everything at hand, and the Yawgoons are the epitome of just that – making something out of nothing.
