Red Bull is getting ready to put on another Heavy Metal, a street snowboarding jam which will take place this year at the Hart Plaza in Detroit, MI. Read the official press release below and see the video recap from last year’s Heavy Metal in Duluth, MN:

DETROIT – (December 16, 2022) – Red Bull Heavy Metal, the single-day street snowboard contest that features the most progressive rail riding in the world, will take place in Detroit’s Hart Plaza on February 11th.

After reviving the street jam last winter in Duluth, MN after a 19-year hiatus, Benny Milam takes Red Bull Heavy Metal east to Detroit with the help of Grace Warner, beloved local and Red Bull’s newest snowboard athlete. Both will welcome over 40 of the world’s top street snowboard athletes as they descend onto the rails, gaps and walls of the Motor City.

“It was awesome to see how everyone showed up in my home state to witness the return Red Bull Heavy Metal,” said Milam. “I’m stoked to help bring such an iconic event to a city with a big street snowboarding scene. I can’t wait for the crowd to see what we put down in Hart Plaza!”

Grace Warner is at the forefront of the next generation of riders, winning over fans from all over the world with her style and passion for the sport. “I’m beyond excited to bring Red Bull Heavy Metal to my hometown and compete alongside a legendary crew of riders,” said Warner. “I just want to show the best that Detroit has to offer while inspiring others to do what they love. Snowboarding has given me so much joy, I want others to have the opportunity to experience it too!”

With a roster comprised of the top rail technicians from around the world including Red Bull Athletes Zeb Powell, Luke Winklemann and Jesse Augustinus, Red Bull Heavy Metal promises a day of unforgettable action. The full list of confirmed riders will be announced in the coming weeks. In addition, Joe Sexton returns as competition director. The Bomb Hole’s Chris Grenier and Ethan Stone will also return as the event’s hosts.

Red Bull Heavy Metal will begin at 1pm CST on Saturday, February 11 at Hart Plaza. Gates will open at 12pm CST and viewing is free and open to all spectators. Keep it locked on @redbullsnow for the latest news and coverage.
