Stay Tuned – Bellingham Premiere

Snowboarders have been flocking to preseason sessions at the Bonezone in Utah, while ropetows have begun to spin in Minnesota. Morning dew is transitioning to frost on the ground in New York and rain is returning to Oregon. The 2018-19 season is officially upon us, and Absinthe Films has spent the first few weeks of it touring across Europe and the States premiering their new movie, Stay Tuned. Following their recent showing at Melvin Brewing in Bellingham, WA, the crowd deemed Absinthe’s latest offering a major success.

From Nico Müller’s buttery moves to Aspen Rain Weaver’s jump onslaughts, Jed Sky’s feverish attack on the streets and more, Stay Tuned holds something special for every kind of rider. Veterans like Mikkel Bang showed they’ve still got it, but it was the young guns who truly shined in this film. Demetri Bales’ debut street segment was a definite standout in regards to commitment, control and style. Contest kids like Red Gerard and Brock Crouch demonstrated their ability to push past park kickers into the backcountry, and Frank Jobin proved he’s just as capable on handrails as he is on big air jumps. Absinthe Films Director Justin Hostynek has been known to feature some of snowboarding’s most promising prospects in his films, and he hit that sweet spot again with this one.

We wandered out of the brewery that night ready for a little more beer, but yearning much more for snowboarding. The former was easily attained, and the latter should be coming soon. Until then, we’ll just have to stay tuned.
